Knitting patterns are great when they are free to save and keep. Scroll further down this page for a collection of the patterns available from Knitting by Post for you to enjoy. No sign-ups needed, just click on the one you like and enjoy your knitting.
You may knit for charity or knit for fun, either way you can start now. If you are a beginner knitter, these are great patterns to practice with as they are small knits and they will be made in a flash. If you are more advanced then here are some ideas for you to develop and add your own personal touch to.
You will see from our universally simple knitting style that all patterns from Knitting by Post can be understood and are easy to make. Use up the scraps from your stash, these free patterns are great for beginners too.
All are created with double knitting yarn and 3mm single pointed needles. This means they are all knitted flat. A great way to use up the scraps of yarn that you have lying around or knit some of your stash. You can use any knitting needles or yarn that you have, no need to buy more (unless you want to of course!)
The patterns are easy to read and simple to use directly from your computer or smartphone.
You can make beautiful homemade gifts for your loved ones. Kids will love the knitted toys that you craft and grown ups will love the decorations you lovingly craft. Make keepsakes for new babies and gifts for mum too. Knit for charity or to sell or for family and friends.

Mouse knitting pattern
A tiny knitted mouse for keychain / keyring. It takes an hour to complete. It's a knitting pattern easy for the beginner.
NEEDLES
A pair of 2.25mm straight knitting needles
MATERIALS
- Toy filling (less than 10g)
- Tapestry needle
- Sewing pins
- 2 beads - for the eyes (4 mm)
YARN
Wishful bird baby of Ruyi Bird (the same as scheepjes stone washed yarn): Gray (02), Pink (04) - Less than 10g in each colour.
NOTES
Finished size: The length of finished mouse is 12cm (included long tail 7 cm), the height is 3.5cm
Gauge: 26 sts and 34 rows = 4” [10 cm] in stockinette stitch. Don’t worry too much about tension for this pattern.
Work flat: All pieces are knitted flat (back and forth) on a pair of straight knitting needles.
Casting on: Unless otherwise specified, I prefer to use the long tail cast on for all pieces.
Sewing seams: Use mattress stitch and Whip Stitch to sew the seams.
Safety: If you are making these toys to give to a child, please consider your choice of toy eyes carefully, and ensure you have no loose parts (loose threads, buttons, etc) which can be potential.

K2tog: (Decrease) Knit two stitches together
SSK: (Decrease) Slip a stitch (as if to knit it) to the right-hand needle, slip a second stitch in the same way, slip both stitches together back to the left-hand needle and knit together through the back loops.
